The Texas Junior Academy of Science
(TJAS) is an annual meeting and science competition. High school
students (grades 9-12) from across the state conduct research during
the school year and present results at TJAS through both spoken
and written word.
Any high school student
is eligible to present a paper, up to 12 minutes, on an original
research project in one of the scientific areas. Research projects and presentations must be performed by individual students, and not by groups of students. Team or group projects are not eligible for entry. Presentations
and written work will be judged by professionals in the scientific
areas.
Due to time constraints, only 10 students from each category will be accepted to present their paper - categories with entries greater than 10 will be pre-judged using their submitted abstracts to determine the 10 presenters. Sponsors will be notified if their students HAVE NOT BEEN selected for presentation.
Entry Forms and Fees Each
student must submit a TJAS Student Online Entry Form, along with a 1 page abstract and research paper. The non-refundable registration
fee is $40 per student entry.
Fees for accompanying sponsors/teachers and guests will be $20, non-refundable. All sponsors and guests attending
TJAS must submit an Online Entry Form.
STUDENTS MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A
SPONSOR/TEACHER!
Travel and Accommodations Travel
expenses and transportation to and from Texas A&M University
will not be provided nor paid for by TJAS. Reserved parking will
be provided at no cost accompanying sponsors/teachers.
Judging The
top ranked student in each session will be eligible to participate
in the final round of judging. Preliminary judging will be on the
first day of competition and final judging will begin the next morning.
