Poster Competition
The poster competition consisted of 26 excellent displays representing all fields of research.  We greatly appreciated the time and energy spent on these projects!  Three winners were selected from each category and they each received a trophy.

Speaker Competition

The speakers for this years event were carefully pre-selected for this competition by scientific research faculty at Texas A&M University. 52 students were nominated for this years competition, and 18 presented papers.

Five of the eight finalists receive an expense-paid trip to the National Junior Science and Humanities Symposium.

4th and 5th places each received a medallion, and $100 monetary award presented in their names to their schools to purchase books, supplies, equipment, or materials to benefit the science classroom or department. These awards are generously sponsored by the Society of Mexican American Engineers and Scientists.

The third place winner received a medallion, a $1,000 undergraduate, tuition-based scholarship, sponsored by the US Army, Navy, and Air Force, and a $100 monetary award presented in their names to their schools to purchase books, supplies, equipment, or materials to benefit the science classroom or department, sponsored by the Society of Mexican American Engineers and Scientists.

The second place winner received a medallion, a $1,500 undergraduate, tuition-based scholarship, sponsored by the US Army, Navy, and Air Force, and a $250 monetary award presented in their names to their schools to purchase books, supplies, equipment, or materials to benefit the science classroom or department, sponsored by Sigma Xi at Texas A&M University. This individual is also invited to present her research at the National Junior Science and Humanities Symposium and compete for additional scholarships.

The first place winner received a $2,000 undergraduate, tuition-based scholarship, sponsored by the US Army, Navy and Air Force. She is also invited to present his paper at the National Junior Science and Humanities Symposium and compete for additional scholarships. The winner also receives a medallion and a $500 monetary award presented in their names to their schools to purchase books, supplies, equipment, or materials to benefit the science classroom or department. This award is generously sponsored by the Texas Transportation Institute.

Best Teacher Award

This award is the most difficult to determine a recipient -- every teacher in attendance was a winner!  Every teacher was committed to teaching science and nurturing the spirit of learning in his or her students.

This teacher award is provided through the sponsorship of the US Army, Navy and Air Force, and is administered by the Academy of Applied Science and awarded to:
