Rules
All Texas teams are required to compete at one and only one regional qualifying competition to ADVANCE to the State Tournament. All teams from the same school MUST compete at the same regional competition.
Regional competitions are limited to TWO teams per school. Additional teams may be requested after the close of registration if space is available and upon Regional and State Director approval.
Many Invitational competitions allow more than TWO teams to participate at their competition. This is at the discretion of the Invitational Director – check with them to see how many teams are allowed from each school. If a school wishes to have more than TWO teams compete at an invitational, they MUST register the additional teams and pay the discounted membership fee of $110 per additional team. This fee covers the necessary National, State and Invitational affiliation fees and one manual in their division. Each Invitational will have their own required entry fee for their competition – this fee is not included in the $110 affiliation fee.
However, teams may *PRACTICE* at as many Invitational tournaments as they choose and with as many teams as they choose (and that the Invitational allows) as long as EACH team is a REGISTERED and PAID member of Texas Science Olympiad.
EACH team MUST be a paid member of the Texas Science Olympiad to compete at a practice/invitational tournament. The fee for additional INVITATIONAL ONLY TEAMS is $110 PER TEAM. This fee is above and beyond the registration fee of the Invitational. This $110 PER TEAM fee will pay for:
- Invitational, State, and National affiliation fee for ONE team
To register for Member status for additional teams attending an INVITATIONAL only, see the 'Register a Member team ONLY' link on the left.
